Day 15 We Made It

Everyone did their final watch yesterday and last night with great excitement and anticipation for making land fall.

From around 03:00am with lights shinning bright in the distance we were getting tossed around like a drunken parrot in a bar brawl 😂 We did become a little complacent due to the calm weather and doldrums, but apparently out here things change fast the closer we got to the bay the wilder it was getting out here. We had become a little complacent due to being in doldrums for so long, galley drawers burst open and spoons and forks were jumping out as if in a jail break, before I knew it most of the galley had joined the break out. As if the content was as excited as us to get to land.

All on deck at sparrows fart to see what appears to be a beautiful modern skyline, like entering Singapore or Tokyo, I am sure it all felt extra elevated due to being so far from land for so long. As we neared closer the colour of the water changed, and the sea got really angry, running a current of 2,3 knots was feeling really rough after having an average current of 0,3 knots for days on end. Well the good news is thanks to Port Owen we are not afraid of current or wind,  our old faithful training ground.

For a number of days now I have been trying to reach the marina manager to tell me what berth we would be taking, the answer I finally got was "Stop worrying and just get in here come along come along"  Well it turned out we could just berth where ever we thought we could fit 😩 Very odd to say the least.

BAM !!!! WE MADE IT, WE CROSSED THE ATLANTIC OCEAN

After tying up safely, we made a decision that was probably a little dodgy and headed over the road like illegal immigrants, as under the radar as possible, to grab an ice-cold beer, something we had run out of over the last few days,  due to it being extremely hot and humid. This morning we had an awesome Stella Artois which in Salvador, everywhere,  you go it is served at -4°C and given to you in a cooler. An awesome morning and feeling after having fulfilled this amazing challenge. Now time for a real sleep.
