Farewell and a Beautiful Ending

Farewell and a Beautiful Ending

This is our final adventure as a crew of 3 before we part ways, where Makyla will head back to Sweden and continue adulting and doing normal life, while Eric and I continue a life as two sailors. This last year I do believe has been an incredible experience for Makyla, she has crossed an ocean and explored 6 new countries and sailed thousands of nautical miles. Probably got more experience than 6 years in school could have given her. She has taken to life on the water like a true mermaid. She has been an enormous help for Eric in particular, as she was the one who would always crawl into small spaces if things needed fixing, and always eager to learn, having the extra set of fearless hands and the flexibility of youth certainly did make our life easier in many ways. Not to forget being our ever ready dinghy uber driver. She truly took Dad's words to heart before we left South Africa "To now become a sailor not a Swedish Makyla"

Our girl has been a pleasure to sail with and it has been wonderful to see her come out of her shell, grow and embrace what we were doing, and this has not always been easy as severe sea-sickness was a real thing, and difficulty sleeping among other problems. Yet she was always solid, on shift and ready to help at any moment. We also learnt just how adaptable she can be in any situation.

We are going to miss you more than you know, but now it is time for you to do life and create your own story, never lose your adventurous nature and your love for the outdoors.

The last days before we left Panama City we spent some time in the historic district, which was an absolute treat, looking at all those beautiful art filled busses and enjoying a multitude of roof top bars and good food.

Not to forget the tour of the amazing Panama Canal, whose creation is truly a work of wonder, may a fake tan and red caped man never get his hands on the Canal.
