It Is Always My Shift 😜

It Is Always My Shift 😜

Night 1: All the action always seems to happen on my shift, for some odd reason, to test my patience or my tolerance for drama, not sure which. Eric or Makyla will go off shift and not have seen a single boat or tanker for hours, leave me at the helm  and before you know it, I will have one bearing down on me from the port and another from the rear,  oh and of course let's not forget the one that is passing my bow so close I could have passed him a rum. 😜 All while the wind wants to change direction and cause Mr Oxley to flap......Story of my life. I have literally had to start taking screen shots to be believed πŸ˜‚

Both good and bad I guess, as generally after a little nighttime drama, I get the beautiful privilege of seeing at least 50 dolphins if not more, swimming and playing around the boat, while I enjoy my morning coffee. These little rewards make the nighttime nonsense so worthwhile, the joy of seeing these beautiful creatures simply never gets old.
Night 2: A new episode of Tracy's Shift πŸ˜‚ Once again, I was presented with the action, this time a screaming alarm, at a very unreasonable hour, that simply would not shut up. It wakes Eric up, as it should, since this is the purpose of an alarm right,  all it shows is "Alarm 1" WOW so much information, of course neither of us have any clue what that would be. 😳 Like responsible half a sleep adults we check all cabins and bilges etc, not sure what we are checking for, but I guess we will know when we, see it, smell it or feel it. Nope we find absolutely nothing unusual, what we also don't find is the manual for these devices ........... oh so fun, we have hundreds of manual but not this one. Thank heavens for starlink, so we are able to resort to google in the middle of the ocean. Well according to google it appears to be a gas leak YIKES! 😦 WE don't smell anything but ok, I take this as a win. However we still shut the gas off in all 3 places, ventilate and turn the alarm back on again, sure as the sun will rise that alarm goes screaming again. By this time Eric is over it and beside himself, and simply pulls two alarms right out of the bulkheads, while I am going BABES there has to be a better way, apparently not at this time of night, we see nothing, smell nothing so this is a good solution. We had peace and silence for the rest of the night.

My reward for last nights shift show, 30 odd minutes into my next night shift the heavens gave me the most beautiful show, on my port side, a magnificent display of lightning, far in the distance, and clear skies all around us, when I eventually turned my head to starboard the sky was filled with shooting stars like the heavens had dropped a bucket of little diamonds so once again worth the drama to get mother nature to show off for me 😊 I so wish I could have photos of this, but I guess that is just a memory that will have to remain etched into my minds eye.

Night 3: Tonight, has been extremely calm, not a single boat in sight, also not a breath of wind a whole of 0,9knots, no sails just the drone of the Peace Killer.

So I guess I have not worked hard enough for Mother Nature to spoil me tomorrow.

That being said we did get many spoils of beautiful sunny days, calm weather and the freshest, bestest dinner you can imagine so no complaints from this piece of the pond, life is good.
