Moonscape Experience

Moonscape Experience

Yesterday morning we were up bright and early as we were heading to a place called Moonscape/Moonvalley, it is true to its name, feeling like you have stepped onto another planet.
Our photos could not capture the extreme enormity, vastness and raw beauty of this incredible place, you truly feel like you're on another planet, it's so barren and incredibly beautiful, its just amazing how nature works its magic, after driving through extreme desert and massive beautiful sand dunes, you enter this space and it's just huge rock and mountain, nature showing off the amazing colours, that stone, sand and time have created. What an incredible work of art has been created by water, wind and erosion. I feel very privileged to have seen such an unusually stunning place.

We also saw the Welwitschia plants, one of the planets longest living organisms, they only flower once per year, and live to be hundreds of years old, anything between 400 - 1500 years, can you even imagine that. Some have gotten as old as 2000 years. All the way through Moon Valley they have packed a circle of stone around them to show they are protected and to highlight their very strange beauty.

Makyla was compltely captivated by the beauty and spent most of the time behind the camera lense as it truly is very striking experience.

I have made mention I think probably on more than one occasion of how below average I find the food in this country, well I actually had a hamburger yesterday, something I generally don't order, our friend Shane, who is the responsible person for taking us through Moon Valley also took us to a place deep in the Valley, called Goanikontes, a rustic, oasis in the desert, and probably one of the best hamburgers I have ever eaten😁 They also offer some basic accommodation, and we have decided to return here tomorrow and spend the night in the hope of getting to see the beautiful diamonds in the sky on a very dark night.

A cooler box loaded with cheese, snacks and a couple bottles of wine and off we go!
Makyla is going to spend the day fishing off the beach with Shane while we have date night in the desert, Lester and Angela have also rented a car and are off on their mission also enjoying some alone time.

As we arrive back at Goanikontes we head to the restaurant for a drink and who do we find 😂 Lester and Angela seems we like magnets to each other at the moment, so of course we spend some time with them having a couple of cocktails before heading off to our room for some beautiful views with wine and cheese.

Meanwhile Makyla is on the beach catching our tomorrow nights dinner and loving every moment of it.
