Crossing the Pond Day 7
There is something about the calm of the ocean that feels like really good food for the soul, but without a little chaos and crazy I don't have much to write about 😂
I am still trying to work out if I enjoy a little of the chaos or if I prefer the calm and tranquility of being a cruiser, or a sailor chasing at least a little of life on the edge. Hmmmm....I might need to be doing this for a while longer with a few more adventures to figure that out.
Clouds have been hanging around for the last couple of days, but even so, the air feels fresh and warm and clean with the water still a mesmerising shade of blue.
The guys are constantly working on catching dinner, having lost countless lures, but hey they don't give up easily 🤪 I think the boredom might be the thing keeping them on it. Or is it more about the one that got away. There is something being blamed for not catching fish 🤭 Some say the fact that we have bananas on bored are definitely to blame 🫣
We are on a bearing of 286° sailing straight towards St Helena. We are still riding a broad reach at 120° on port, with 12,5 knots of apparent wind we are getting a sweet speed of 7,8 thanks to our every faithful Mr Oxley.
He has been an absolute champion since the repair. Five days strong without taking him down. Maybe its the magic from Angela's pink fishing braid that she used to repair, a bit of girly charm to toughen him up😉
245 Nautical miles to go, according to the plotter. If the wind keeps playing nice, we will arrive by early evening tomorrow. Fingers crossed its all smooth sailing for now.
For now we will continue to enjoy the fine weather and magnificent sunsets tonight it looks a little like a yellow table mountain.
